Stock futures sharply off after factory data

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stock index futures indicated a drop of more than 1 percent at the open on Tuesday as a slowdown in global manufacturing added to doubts about the pace of an economic recovery.

Covidien to buy ev3 for $2.6 billion in vascular deal

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Medical products maker Covidien Plc plans to acquire ev3 Inc , a maker of stents and other vascular devices, for $2.6 billion, the companies said on Tuesday.
